I bought this juicer for an ex-boyfriend & we used it for over two years. It does juice things fairly well. For the low price-tag, you get a pretty good quality product.

(One Tip: If you have a lot of plastic grocery bags, putting one in the pulp bucket before using the juicer makes cleanup a lot easier - you can just pull it out, tie it up & toss it. Then the pulp bucket only needs a gentle rinse to clean up.)

Having used a number of other juices since, I would like to point out some of the issues that this juicer has that ultimately became a turn-off to me (and made me not-so-sad to see the juicer go away with my ex):

- It juices, but it doesn't wring out nearly all the juice - I've found both centrifuge and masticating juicers that wring more juice out.

- Clean-up is a pain in the butt - cleaning all the parts takes a lot of time. You should have a little toothbrush to get all the bits of pulp out of the little crevices... Read more

I have the classic juicer- it was given as a gift. It was only functional for less then 2 months. The issue- and you will see this on other review websites, is that the blade is attached to the motor with a plastic threading. Turn just a bit too hard and you strip a fine curl of plastic off of the threading, the blade won't attach to the motor and and the entire unit is unusable. I can get replacements parts of new motor and new blade but at a cost of $60.00. I read multiple other negative reviews of either the same issue or of the motor going out after only a few months of use. I am better off taking my 60 bucks and applying to a different brand with proven durability. Trust me this is flagrant design flaw- it did not take much for me to destroy the threading and disable the unit. So the LaLanne juicer is lemon. I don't know what I will purchase and I am open to suggestions. I love making juice and it was OK at doing just that. But why drop a $100 or more on something that... Read more

My husband and I have been using this juicer for months, almost every morning, and love it. We combine different berries, an apple and a large orange for a great, nutrious drink for two. No complaints. Don't mind that it takes a bit of time to clean the juicer after use. Our health is worth this minor inconvenience. Don't be so lazy!

This is a great machine. I had one of the cheap ones and it was not very good, so I took a chance on This item and it exceeded all of my expectations. It halps me make great healthy juices with both fruits and veggies. The cleaning is easy enough, as long as you clean it soon after operation, if not it takes much longer. The recipe book that came with the unit is also very easy to read and follow. I highly reccommend this juicer.

I have juiced for years using my Mom's Champion Juicer. So when I tried this juicer I was pleased with how well it extracted juice at a reasonable purchase cost. I think it does a nice job with both leafy and hard vegetables and fruit.

However, it has a fatal flaw. The basket edge is plastic and spins very close above the edge of the frame of the juice collector. If the basket wobbles for any reason these plastic parts rub together. Since the basket is rotating very fast, it only takes a moment for it to rub. Once it does, the plastic quickly heats up and melts. If you make a very clear juice, you can find little bits of plastic in the juice. Decidedly unhealthy.

So I bought a second juicer and was VERY careful about feed rate. However, even the weight of a carrot can sometimes cause the basket to wobble and cause the same problem. In fact, the instruction book states that sometimes the basket can lose alignment. The directions say to let the... Read more

I just bought this at my favorite wholesale club store (the one that rhymes with Moscow) for ninety bucks. I didn't buy any produce, so I used what I had at home; baby carrots and cherries (not in recipe book). Had to pit the cherries with a big stiff straw (the kind that come with carnival cups that you can whistle through). I let my 14 year old son (LOVES junk food; not so much healthy stuff; but all my kids LOVED salad from before they were 2), and he GULPED the whole thing down! I barely even got a sip of my carrot-cherry juice! LOVE the huge recipe book! It is like a real book! 190 pages with color pages and at least a couple of recipes per page. Not just drinks, but also real recipes using the pulp. There are 84 drinks/smoothies, 13 frozen treats, 9 dressings, 18 baked goods, 8 soups, & 9 salsas/dip recipes. I like this juicer a lot. Just bought it at Kohl's today and it works great. I have had about 5 different juicers and I love this one by far out of all the rest. The screen filter is easy to clean. little slits instead of tiny pinholes. The juicer isn't the most powerful and you really need to be gentle when pushing food. You only want the juicer to go at its own pace and you need to let gravity do the pushing. Some things like apples you need to apply a small amount of pressure. With other high powered juicers You can push a whole apple through without a second thought. This one takes a little longer but the result is less foamy and MORE juice. Take your time when juicing with this juicer. If you let gravity do most of the work and lightly assist sometimes even pulling up the plunger and going back down to allow the fruit/veg to popup then go back down and it will juice and not jam. I'm so sorry to write this but I can't believe how terrible this juicer is. I had a lovely Braun juicer my mom got me for Christmas in way back in 1993. That thing juiced everything beautifully. I even lugged it with me when I moved to Europe. Just last year a dear friend became ill, so I gave her my old Braun juicer. It still worked perfectly but I figured she needed it and maybe it was time to get a new one. Unfortunately my new juicer is the Jack Lalanne power juicer express. First of all, it constantly stalls. It barely juices beets or carrots... yes, I chop them. I tried to stick some kale in (which the little Braun had no problem with) but it just completely stalled (like it always does). Also, its complicated to put together and the spout isn't high enough if you want to make a large glass of juice. My little Braun juicer took me through my all my raw food juicing years without a hitch. With my new Jack Lalane, I'll have to get an entirely new juicer if I want to go on a juice... Read more

I bought this so I could do a little fasting to drop some weight and Im happy with my purchase. Clean up is easy and it looks good in the kitchen lol. Hard to believe there a re bad reviews of this product because mine works perfectly. I guess in one review the guy had the spout closed and filled the machine up with juice lol. You need to have a little common sense but operating this thing is really easy. As long as your not trying to smash fruit/veggies to hell and back with the plunger this thing should last a long time.

First off, let me admit to the fact that I've never owned any kind of juicer before, this one is the first.

We were given the Jack LaLanne Stainless Juicer as a gift from someone who already had one and loved it. I had modestly high hopes for it, not being a big powered-kitchen-gadget fan; but we also have been trying to improve our diets due and lose some weight, so the gift was rather timely to meet that end. I honestly knew nothing about this product until I pulled it out of the box at home. We'd gone to the local big-box store and bought a bunch of stuff to put in the machine and try it out: Kiwis, mangoes, carrots, tomatoes, apples, oranges, pears, ginger root, celery and pineapple.

The Good:

Is it hard to eat your vegetables and have enough fruit servings in a day? It was for me; so I decided to buy another juicer. My last juicer had a very small spout and you had to cut up everything before you put it into the juicer; and it was extremely noisy. I got rid of it because it did not measure up.

I purchased the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer and have been very pleased with it. I read the other reviews and I will try to respond to them as well based upon my own experiences. First, for me the juicer is excellent. I juice fruits and most vegetables. You have to insert soft vegetables followed by hard vegetables for it to work optimally. I have had no problems following the directions which indicate that this works best.

I have made some wonderful drinks with the Power Juicer. Here is one called the Energy Boost Drink which I love:

When I heard that Jack's machine would take whole apples, I seemed to have lost all sense and ordered his juicer, which I believed would be an upgrade from my Mr. Juiceman. It's time consuming to cut products to fit the juicer. What Jack fails to mention in his ads--his chute does take apples, but only small ones, the ones you usually don't buy. Thus, I'm still cutting products, same as usual.

I juice all kinds of fruits and veggies and have over many years. If you are new to the experience of juicing, you will quickly learn that better made, more professional models are $400-500. Thus, you must choose these lower cost models, that despite their glitz are largely made of plastic. The only thing going for this Jack LaLanne model is that they used good sense in making the plastic black. Despite every good cleaning, white plastic models take on fruit/veggie stains that over time are very difficult to remove.

Overall I think it's a great juicer, particularly for the budget conscious novice; the price is appealing and the quality is good. There is no need to buy disposable filters and the main source of labor lies in washing which is initially something to get used to. The amount of juice it extracts is good as far as I can tell, though the pulp is not perfectly dry*, but the juice is thick and not clear, so if you want very clear juice perhaps this juicer isn't for you.

*Now for my explanation on the pulp. Apples for example, frequently result in very thin slices being discarded into the pulp collector. That doesn't thrill me. Also in general, despite the pulp being dry, I discover on dismantling the juicer there's a good amount of wet juicy pulp that's stuck to the inside (think: apple sauce). The TV demonstration's somewhat misleading on their claim of this juicer's superiority in extracting juice completely from fruits and vegies.

It seems like a lot of these reviews are written by beginners who are reviewing the practice of juicing itself, rather than reviewing the machine for which this page is all about.

To new juicers who haven't ever juiced before: Yes, there is clean-up involved. Yes, there will be organic particulate matter in the juice-machine made juice (this is actually a good thing), much more so than heavily strained 'store bought' juices. If you're looking for a magic machine where you can throw fruits and veggies into a chute and out pops a bottle of Welches, sorry. That's Star Trek, not juicing... and even if that's what the juicer accomplished, if that's what you want, then why buy a juicer in the first place?

Several years ago, after watching the famed strongman sell his product on an infomercial I decided to make an investment in my health & I purchased "The Power Juicer." Initially, I was impressed. All claims seemed to be confirmed, quiet, powerful, and I wasn't naive to the amount of cleaning that would be required & quickly adapted a routine that made the cleanup fairly painless. About 2 months after my purchase, I noticed the plastic screw that the blade connects to, was cracked. I talked to the Power Juice people & they sent me a new one after returning mine to them. I recall being quite pleased with the way this was handled.

Fast forward to about 2 weeks ago. I hadn't used The Power Juicer for some time & when I started assembling it I heard a crack when I started screwing the blade in - you guessed it, that very same screw had completely cracked off.
